Hans COLLAERT I (Brussels 1525 or 1530 - Antwerp 1580) "the encounter of Christ with Zacchaeus (Luke 19,2)" Original engraving in monogrammed plate in the lower left "HCF", from a subject by Maerten de Vos, inserted in the collection entitled "Theatrum Biblicum, hoc est, Historiae sacrae veteris et novi testamenti tabulis aeneis expressae" (seventeenth-century version of Gerard de Jode's "Thesaurus Novi Testamenti ..."), published in Amsterdam by Jansz Claes Visscher between 1639 and 1674. Beautiful copy printed on thin laid paper bearing the "Arme di Amsterdam" watermark (Churchill 1 and following), typical of 17th-century Dutch paper production, with large margins beyond the imprint of the plate, small foxing points on the edges and the trace of a central vertical fold but overall in excellent condition. Bibliography The New Hollstein "The Collaert Dynasty" Amsterdam 2005 No. 310. Measurements in mm: 201 x 277
